24-Aug-2014 Fu Manchu

  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons green creme de menthe
  • 2 teaspoons simple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons orange curacao
  • 1 teaspoon triple sec (I substituted Grand Marnier)
  • 2 oz light rum

Shake all ingredients with ice cubes. Pour unstrained into a tulip glass or specialty glass

I wanted to make this drink simply for the novelty of the jade green color. What I discovered is that this is a surpisingly complex drink with both orange and minty flavors but perfectly balanced; neither one overpowers the other. As the ice melted it took the mint edge off. It's a very light drink. This recipe is for a double and I think this would work well as a starter drink, later switching to something with dark rums, 151s, or other stronger spirits.

  • 2 oz amber 151-proof rum (Bacardi)
